Where Fieldwork Becomes Artwork

Welcome to Laughing Jay Studio—the nest of a gremlin wildlife biologist who loves taking the memories and trinkets she’s collected and making them into something more.

I’ve spent my days wandering the outdoors, meeting new people, and crossing paths with species and scenes that stick with me long after I leave. Sometimes, those moments beckon me to bring them to life—an illustration, a story, a small trinket you can hold in your hands.

This studio is my little lair, where I store my memories and artifacts to share with others. Wander a while—get lost in a story, and maybe even take a piece of one home.

the Field Journal

Here you’ll find notes from long days outside, species encounters I can’t get out of my head, rabbit holes I fell down, and moments that have stuck with me. Some stories stand on their own, and others are tangled with pieces you’ll find in the studio.

the Studio

A crow’s collection of oddities and keepsakes—things found and things made, moments and memories captured and preserved.  Sometimes a painting, sometimes an old life made new. All available for you to add to your nest, too.

New here?

Hi! My name is Sierra.

I’m a wildlife biologist who’s spent her days outside—wandering scrubs and swamps, meeting people who care about the land, and crossing paths with species that tend to follow me home in my thoughts.

Somewhere along the way, those experiences started turning into paintings, stories, and strange little artifacts. Laughing Jay Studio is where all of that ends up—the place where fieldwork and creativity collide, where moments and memories become manifest.
